It was all change ahead of Saturday’s early kick off for Tottenham Hotspur as we made the trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham United.
Former manager Mauricio Pochettino carried the can for our poor form in 2019 – despite not being allowed to strengthen or freshen up the group – and chairman Daniel Levy either pulled off a masterstroke or dropped an almighty clanger, with the appointment of Jose Mourinho.
Having made the bolder decision to drop Christian Eriksen for his first game, it was certainly a pleasing start to his tenure as we found ourselves 2-0 up at the break following efforts from Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura, and shortly after the restart Harry Kane had made it 3-0.
We were largely in control but a poor West Ham did set up a more nervy end as they got one back inside of the final 20 minutes and had it not been for VAR, the end of the game would’ve been far more frantic.
As it was, the hosts still got a second deep into stoppage time, but we held on for Mourinho’s first win and three points.
